Day Porter Services
in Mobile & Baldwin County, AL

A porter on site during business hours to keep lobbies, restrooms and shared spaces presentable between your nightly cleanings.

A night crew can leave a building spotless at 5 AM, and by 10 AM the restrooms have been used, the lobby floor has tracked-in grit and someone has spilled coffee near the elevator. A day porter handles exactly that gap. One trained person is on site during business hours, working a set route and responding to whatever comes up.

Premier’s day porter service runs on the same foundation as our night work: W-2 employees, nationwide criminal background checks before a first shift, GPS clock-in, weekly supervisor inspection and a written scope. We built the day porter service around the same standards as our nightly janitorial service.

Because a porter works in front of your tenants, staff and visitors, the job is different from night work. The person has to be unobtrusive, quick and comfortable being seen. We tell you during the walk-through whether a porter, a restroom check route or a larger team fits your building.

Why it matters

Day porter vs. night janitorial

The two services solve different problems, and most buildings that need one benefit from the other.

  • Night janitorial. Does the heavy, noisy and time-consuming work, such as vacuuming, mopping, deep restroom cleaning and dusting, while the building is empty.
  • Day porter. Keeps the building presentable while people are in it. The work is light, frequent and responsive.
  • Together. The night crew can focus on depth, and the porter can keep the space guest-ready from opening to closing.

A porter does not replace a nightly crew. Floors still need machine work, and restrooms still need a full clean after hours. Our janitorial service covers that side.

How we run it

Setting up a porter for your building

We do not drop someone into a building with a mop and no direction. A porter service needs a plan.

  • Walk-through. We map restrooms, entries, lobbies and meeting rooms, and ask when traffic peaks.
  • Route and hours. We write a check schedule, such as restroom rounds at set times, plus time for spill calls. Hours can be a few per day or a full shift.
  • Supplies. A cart, signage and supplies stay on site, and we tell you when consumables run low.
  • Communication. One point of contact on your side, one supervisor on ours. The porter logs each round and shares notes with the night crew.

We do not claim a long track record in this service. We do offer a written scope, a trained and vetted person and a supervisor who checks the work. Ask us to explain any part of the setup before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

What does a day porter do?

A day porter is a custodial worker on site during business hours who keeps common areas presentable. Typical duties are restroom checks and restocking, spill response, trash runs, conference room resets and wiping high-touch surfaces. The porter also keeps entry glass and lobbies clean and communicates with your night crew.

Is a day porter the same as a janitor?

Not quite. A janitor, usually working at night, does the full cleaning: floors, dusting, deep restroom work. A day porter works during business hours on lighter upkeep and quick responses. Many buildings use both so the space stays clean from morning to evening.

How many hours a day do I need a porter?

It depends on traffic, restroom count and how many tenants you have. Some buildings need a few scheduled rounds, others a full-day presence. We recommend an arrangement after seeing the building, and you can adjust it once we see where attention is needed.

Can a day porter work alongside our night janitorial crew?

Yes, and that is the best setup. The porter keeps a log and passes notes, such as a stain or a failed dispenser, to the night crew. Because both teams work under one supervisor, nothing is duplicated and nothing falls between them.

Can I use you for the day service if I already have a night cleaner?

Yes. We can add day porter service to a building another vendor cleans at night, though we usually recommend one provider so the handoff is simple. We will coordinate with your existing vendor on the scope if you choose to split.

Does a porter handle spills and emergencies?

A porter handles routine spills, wet floors and debris right away, with signage to protect visitors. Larger events, such as a water leak or storm damage, need a different response. We will tell you plainly where the porter's role ends and who to call.

Which areas do you serve?
